Product Description

Almost two decades before ‘roughage’ or ‘fiber’—now more accurately called prebiotic fiber—became popular, Udo’s Choice® Wholesome Fast Food was already available in several countries. Udo’s Choice® Wholesome Fast Food was among the first, and is still the best prebiotic fiber blend available anywhere. Prebiotic fiber is the most important food for the protective probiotics (friendly bacteria) that live in our gut. Optimum daily intake of fiber supports the health of the digestive tract, liver, cardiovascular and immune systems, and brain, stabilizes blood sugar, detoxifies, reduces cholesterol, and can even normalize weight and suppress appetite. Our special blend is a mixture of all the important plant-based, certified organic fibers that provide people who care about health with exceptional sources of both water-soluble and water-insoluble fiber, each which play different roles in health.

Water-insoluble fiber scrubs the inside lining of our gut, keeping it clean and able to effectively absorb nutrients into our body, and also helps with bowel regularity.

Water-soluble fibers are excellent sources of food and energy for probiotics, which in turn serve as a source of colon-protecting short chain fatty acids (SCFA), keep unfriendly microbes in our gut from making toxic molecules that do us harm, improve mental wellbeing by reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression (and perhaps schizophrenia). They also escort toxins from our liver out of our body, slow down sugar absorption to stabilize blood sugar, protect our cardiovascular system heart and arteries, block the re-absorption of cholesterol from our intestine back into our body, help normalize body weight (even in cases of obesity), and also help maintain regular bowel movements.

In spite of the widespread mistaken belief, animal foods—red meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, and dairy—provide no fiber at all. Prebiotic fibers come only from plants. Although these plant-based prebiotic fibers are not absorbed into our body and are therefore not essential nutrients, they are still essential to human and animal good health.

One of the greatest health concerns today is the lack of fiber in the foods we eat. Many serious health concerns are the result of our excess intake of animal products and highly-refined processed foods, our lack of plant-based foods, and a serious deficiency of the prebiotic fibers required for optimum health and the health-supporting gut microbiome. In 2015, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that only about 1 in 10 American adults reap the many health benefits provided by eating the recommended daily amounts of fruits and vegetables (1.5-2 cups of fruits and 2-3 cups of vegetables), two of the major sources of dietary fiber.(1) In North America, we’re told that we should have at least 31.5 grams/day of fiber, and the average intake is only 15 grams.

A good foundation of the right kinds of fiber in our gut is vital for good health and long life. To make Udo’s Choice® Wholesome Fast Food ‘with health in mind’, we chose to use only the best plant-based fibers available to us. We designed special machinery for harvesting and then powdering these fibers into an easy-to-use mixture that you can use in juices, smoothies, and foods. Udo’s Prebiotic Fiber Blend provides a complete set of the plant-based fibers that are too low in most people’s food intake.

Udo’s Choice® Wholesome Fast Food comes in a re-sealable protective package, and is found in the supplement or fiber section of your local whole foods market or natural food store.

Fantastic product, I’ve been using it for at least 20 years now. I take it every morning, it’s a very substantial and filling breakfast. Keeps me ‘regular’. No joint pains (not bad for a 68-year-old). I couldn’t do without it !

Not only does it work as advertised (namely, provide fibre to improve digestion and regularity), this product also tastes good. I especially enjoy sprinkling it on vanilla yoghurt or ice cream; its mild cinnamon flavor is quite pleasant.

In Denmark it is not possible to buy Wholesome fast food from Udo’s choice, after some research on the internet I finally ordered it, and it hasn’t disappointed me at all. I am just about to run out and have reordered. It is a genius for low blood sugar and low energy – helps immediately, tastes good (with cinnamon flavour). I drink it almost each day mixed in water or juice.

Very nutritional and great to add to smoothies. Has so many lovely nutrients in it that are great for not only vegetarians, but anyone who needs a little extra that their food may not always provide.
