More health problems come from damaged oils than any other part of nutrition. Fresh oils – especially the polyunsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 oils – are perishable, just like other healthful but perishable foods. They are also essential nutrients required for many important biological functions in the body, hence the name ‘essential’ fatty acids, or EFAs. This is why it’s important to get your daily good fats and why we created Udo’s Oil.
Udo’s Choice recipe contributor Violet Simpson proves that a healthy breakfast doesn’t have to be boring with this creative, colorful, delicious, and nutrient-packed smoothie bowl.
BLUE CINNAMON CHIA PUDDING & DRAGON FRUIT SMOOTHIE
Serves 1 (makes about 2 cups)
BLUE CINNAMON CHIA PUDDING
½ cup almond milk
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 teaspoon algae powder/ blue majik (E3Live)
Dash of cinnamon
DRAGON FRUIT SMOOTHIE
1 frozen banana
¼ frozen dragon fruit
½ cup coconut water
1 tablespoon Udo’s Oil 3·6·9 Blend
1 teaspoon Maca powder
2 black figs, sliced
- In a high speed blender, add chia pudding ingredients minus the chia seeds, blend until fully dissolved, then in small bowl, whisk the blue milk and chia seeds together. Set aside for at least 10 minutes to let the chia seeds soak up the liquid and expand;
- While the chia seeds are soaking, place all the dragon fruit smoothie ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth;
- While holding the bowl tipped to one side, with other hand, pour the chia pudding into one side of the bowl. Chia pudding should be thick enough to stay put but you can use a spoon to keep from sliding over. While the bowl still tipped, quickly pour the dragon fruit smoothie into the bowl on the other side of the chia pudding.
- Garnish with black fig halves and serve.
